An Inconvenient Truth DVD    NEW

An Inconvenient Truth by Al Gore is no mere coffee table moneymaker from an ex-politician. Rather, it’s an insightful and provocative discussion of the truth about global warming. Gore, a 30-year student of the climate crisis, is a thoughtful author who melds leading-edge research from top global warming scientists around the world with anecdotes and humor.

The title comes from Gore’s views on how our current administration is dealing with global warming. He has responded by creating dialogue directly within the global community. “Although it is true that politics at times must play a crucial role in solving this problem, this is the kind of challenge that ought to completely transcend partisanship,” says Gore. “The climate crisis also offers us the chance to experience what very few generations in history have had the privilege of knowing: a generational mission; the exhilaration of a compelling moral purpose; a shared and unifying cause; the thrill of being forced by circumstances to put aside the pettiness and conflict that so often stifle the restless human need for transcendence; the opportunity to rise.”

Be sure to see the movie An Inconvenient Truth, directed by Davis Guggenheim, on Gore’s campaign to bring worldwide attention to the issue of global warming — in theaters and available on DVD.

Gore’s book (see related products) offers an excellent opportunity to delve further into the facts of global warming without going dry in the mouth. A relatively easy and entertaining read, An Inconvenient Truth is a follow up to Al Gore’s bestselling Earth in Balance: Ecology and the Human Spirit, inspired by a series of multimedia presentations on global warming that Gore created and delivers to groups around the world. Highly recommended for your personal collection and as a holiday gift that gives to the environment by educating and entertaining your friends and family. 328 pages, with 330 photographs, illustrations and charts; softcover. USA.
