SPA & RESORT AND MEDICAL SPA EXPO AND CONFERENCE GIVES EDUCATION THE STAR TREATMENT

Medical Spa Society and Reed Exhibitions introduce new educational tracks and package options to conference program-

LOS ANGELES — Cutting edge performance requires adaptation and continued learning.  With an expanded range of educational track options, the 2007 Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expo and Conference will prove that innovation is not just a buzzword, but a business practice.  The March 3 – 5, 2007, event at the Los Angeles Convention Center is sponsored by ScripSpaSupply and Universal Companies and will offer brand-new educational tracks and valuable education packages, enabling attendees to have access to a wealth of resources all under one roof.

“The spa industries are perpetually changing, so it is imperative that we continually adjust and improve the services that we provide,” said Eileen Baird, Group Vice President and Show Manager of the Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expos and Conferences.  “With new educational tracks, education packages, and a la carte class options, our Los Angeles event is set to be our very best continuing education opportunity for spa and medical professionals.”

The Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expo and Conference and the Medical Spa Society are proud to bring leading industry professionals and world-renowned speakers for the educational tracks to discuss the most timely and cutting edge issues and challenges affecting the spa industries.  The 2007 Los Angeles event will include eleven Continuing Medical Education credit hours worth of hands-on demonstrations, the introduction of two completely new Continuing Education credited tracks for nurses and estheticians, and the Los Angeles debut of the Massage Therapist track.  These additions which will allow even more attendees access to the latest educational information in their respective areas of specialization.  The Nursing Education track will feature five hours of Continuing Medical Education credits; the Esthetician track will offer six hours of National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers / Distributors & Associations (NCEA) Continuing Education credits; and the Massage Therapy training track will be taught over the course of three days and will have 16 hours of Continuing Education credits available.

Reflecting the need for innovation, the Spa & Resort track has been separated into Day Spa, Resort Spa and Medical Spa tracks to reflect the specific needs of the three distinct spa categories.  The tracks’ sessions will address business-related issues that pertain to each type of spa, including sessions such as “Financing your Day Spa” for day spas and “Resort Spa Revenue Management” for resort spas, and “Top Medical Spa Marketing Strategies” for medical spas.

Introduced at the Los Angeles Spa & Resort Expo last year, the Trends track offers the most current issues and news influencing business.  The 2007 Los Angeles Trends track will feature sessions highlighting two trends: Wellness in the Medical Spa sponsored by Care Credit and Alternative Healing Therapies sponsored by ScripSpaSupply.  The Wellness Trends track will focus on such topics as success in aesthetic medicine to offering treatments and products that may help to prevent skin cancer.  The Alternative Trends track will educate participants about nontraditional healing practices, such as vibrational therapy and acupuncture.

Not only will conferees benefit from the wide and varied educational track options, but they will also be able to join top industry experts for a networking and roundtable event.  This groundbreaking event will allow them to meet one-on-one for expert consultations on subjects such as regulatory issues for Estheticians and increasing Day and Resort Spa revenues through networking.

Attendees will also have more pricing options when it comes to the educational tracks.  By offering the choice of attending multiple tracks as part of a valuable package, the purchasing options allow attendees to choose the schedule that works best for them.

Also, attendees to the event will have the opportunity to refocus, recharge, and relax in a newly created area on the show floor, called the Spa Sanctuary.  This area will bring the spa atmosphere to the show floor, allowing attendees to relax and enjoy the benefits of spas.  The new area will feature facial massage, stone massage, foot exfoliation, teeth whitening, and so much more.  Working with ScripSpaSupply in conjunction with Bon Vital Massage Products, Earthlite Massage Tables, IMDS, Hive Solution, European Touch, and Performance Health, the Los Angeles Spa & Resort Expo is committed improving the lives of others.  While the Spa Sanctuary is offering the 10 – 15 minute spa setting for attendees, it is also collecting $10.00 donations to help fight skin cancer, donating all proceeds to skin cancer research.

The latest industry products and treatments –all under one roof– will invariably draw large numbers of professionals eager to learn more.  As the premier series of events reflecting the convergence of the traditional and medical segments of the spa & resort field, the Expos annually attracts more than 10,000 industry professionals from top U.S. spa locations such as Los Angeles and New York.  Because of increased demand, and in keeping with a commitment to innovate, the 2007 L.A. event will be held in an exhibit hall that is 20% bigger than the previous year’s.

The Spa & Resort and Medical Spa Expo and Conference events are fully audited by Exhibit Survey, Inc., an independent third-party auditor, marking the first events in the spa and medical spa industry to use fully audited attendance verification reports.
