The Peaks Resort & Golden Door Spa is nestled amidst 14,000-foot Rocky Mountain peaks, overlooking the historic town of Telluride and surrounded by spectacular natural vistas in every direction. Inspired by the ancient Honjin inns of Japan (sanctuaries where weary travelers could relax and recharge), The Golden Door continues the tradition, restoring guests through a complete program of personal well-being. Many Ayurvedic and Shirodhara treatment replenish the spirit as they detoxify and relax. The Kivas are the site of the Peaks Purification Ritual, which includes the inhalation of Colorado aromatic herbs in the steam room, a cedar-filled sauna for cleansing and purification, and a soak in the mineral-infused whirlpool. Additionally, the Kivas offer lockers, showers, lounges and a variety of Spa amenities including robes, slippers, shorts, swimsuits and T-shirts. A full salon rounds out the treatment options.
The fitness level features a 25-yard lap pool, Cybex weight room, cardiovascular deck and exercise studios. The Explorers and Wyndham Kids Retreat programs offering full care and activities for children up to 12. For families with younger guests, the Spa offers an indoor/outdoor pool heated year-round. During the winter, you'll love the ski-in/ski-out access to some of the West's best powder. And in the summer, North America's highest championship golf course is nearby, as well as hiking, horseback riding and more. There's also glider rides, mountain biking, jeep tours of the Rocky Mountains and even fly-fishing. For an even greater thrill, try heli-skiing. Restaurants include Legends, an innovative 100-seat restaurant that transforms with the seasons, Appaloosa for elegant evening meals accompanied by an award-winning wine list honored by Wine Spectator, The Great Room's specialty cocktails and Colorado microbrews with live entertainment, and two bars (poolside and in the lobby). As a special service to guests, all of the menus of the resorts restaurants offer flavorful low-fat alternatives. Rooms all have down comforters, CD stereos, and VCRs.
